The campaign to End Forest Mining has been gaining incredible momentum since public comments opened one year ago. Alcoa’s social licence is crumbling, and public anger over mining expansions has massively increased.

In the last year, we have:

• Gathered 59,000 submissions to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) on Alcoa’s mining and expansion;
• Successfully challenged Alcoa’s rehabilitation claims in advertising with Ad Standards ruling in favour of our complaint;
• Kept the pressure firmly on Alcoa by continuing to build a community-centred campaign.
