Alcoa plans to bulldoze over 11,500 hectares of WA’s precious Northern Jarrah forests, and for the first time in 60 years of operating, their mining is open for public comment and Western Australians will get a say.
The End Forest Mining alliance will be hosting a series of town halls across Perth and the Northern Jarrah forests region.
You’ll have the opportunity to listen to speakers on the topic of deforestation & habitat loss, air and water contamination, life by the refinery, First Nations perspectives, nature based recreation tourism, and the WA environmental approvals process and how to have your say.
You’ll also be guided to submit a comment during the Alcoa Public Environmental Review period, which closes August 21st 2025.
This venue is wheelchair accessible and has one accessible toilet. There is limited parking in the general vicinity of the Hall, however there is some ACROD parking on Henderson Street and William Street. An ACROD parking permit allows free parking in all City of Fremantle car parks and street parking with double the signposted time limit (except where a time limit is shown on dedicated ACROD bays).
This venue is accessible via public transport – it’s approximately a 10 minute walk from the Fremantle Station to the Town Hall and there are bus stops along Market Street which are closer to the venue.
