What is End Forest Mining?
End Forest Mining is an alliance of groups, all working together for a shared purpose: to end bauxite mining in WA’s Northern Jarrah Forest. Our vision is for the state’s magnificent remaining jarrah forests to be safe from mining, and protected forever.
The campaign against bauxite mining in the jarrah forest is decades long. In 2023, the End Forest Mining alliance was formed to block South32 and Alcoa’s proposed mining expansions. Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) public environmental reviews for both provided new windows of opportunity for community opposition to show and grow.
Despite spending hundreds of thousands on public relations campaigns and advertising, Alcoa and South32 have fast been losing their social license to destroy this precious ecosystem.
This was demonstrated in 2025 with a record-breaking 59,000 submissions made to the WA EPA in response to Alcoa’s mining expansion plans.
The battle against bauxite mining in the jarrah forest is far from over but, together, we have made significant progress, and we won’t stop until these beloved forests are protected.
